Support Systems

We all need support systems in our life especially when we are most vulnerable. It’s my support system that keeps me going in life. Some times you just have your days when you want to give up and not fight anymore. You can’t even plan to do any activities because you don’t know how you are going to feel the next day and it sucks. I lost over $200 dollars on Blue Man group concert because by the time the concert came around I couldn’t walk at all and all of my joints were hurting. I told the manager what had happened and he gave me free tickets to go see them and once again my lupus took over my body… Life becomes painful and you start questioning why me. You may go through that for a couple of days, weeks, months or even a year or so, but if you have people around you that helps you get through your tough times you can make it through anything. It’s the people that we know we can trust with our life. That no matter what situation we are in they are going to be there for us. When things get rough they would not leave you in the dust. We don’t find a lot of people like that in our life, so when you do keep them close and reciprocate the favor to them.

  1. You are so very right. A good support system is key. I lost money on an unlimited theme park ride ticket because my dr said, no rides at the last minute. I had to ride around in a wheelchair all day, while everyone went on rides and had fun. It hurt a lot.

On another aspect of support system, it hurts when people say they are in your corner, but if you have a bad couple of months, or are in constant pain, they say they support you, but they still get mad if you cancel plans, or are not doing things they expect of you. Life with chronic illness is hard. That is why we must stand and support each other.
